FANS are up in arms after Cadbury removed a much-loved choccy treat from the shelves, just weeks before Christmas.
Sweet-toothed shoppers took to social media after realising Crunchie Nuggets were no longer being sold. Not known, clear with picture deskCrunchie Nuggets fans are disappointed to see the chocolate treat discontinued[/caption]
Based on the traditional Crunchie bar, the nuggets were chunks of honeycomb dipped in milk chocolate.
The original Crunchie bar was launched in the UK in 1929 and over the years there have been a number of variations and limited editions sold including a Tango Orange version as well as lemonade and mint varieties.
Hardcore fans of the Crunchie Nuggets were devastated to learn that they have now been discontinued.
One fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Why why why on earth would you discontinue crunchy nuggets” and added a couple of crying emojis for good measure.
Cadbury’s responded to the message, explaining: “Sorry about this Stacey! Peoples’ tastes change from time to time, so we refresh our range to cater for everyone.”
Another said the nuggets were far better than the Crunchie Rocks currently available, saying: “Crunchie Rocks are so disappointing compared to Crunchie Nuggets. The chocolate to honeycomb ratio is all wrong. Please bring back the Nuggets.”
While the Crunchie Nuggets were discontinued some time ago, fans still have a soft spot for the choccy treats and want them brought back.
Writing on the social media site, one person summed things up: “I miss the Crunchie Nuggets.”
While the popular account Very British Problems posed the question “What discontinued British snack should they bring back?” with someone replying: “Those crunchie big bags, think they were called ‘Crunchie nuggets’.
Also replying to the same question, another person added: “Crunchie nuggets. Crunchie rocks simply do not compare.”
It comes as Cadbury’s is set to launch a creme egg chocolate bar in December.
More recently Cadbury has been upsetting its fans after revealing that one chocolate bar that some describe as the “best chocolate bar they’ve ever made” has been discontinued.
Meanwhile, other shoppers have been rushing to buy a Cadbury selection box that is the cheapest around.
We also tested some Caramac dupes following the announcement that the iconic chocolate bar is about to be discontinued forever.
Also, if you are shopping around for a Cadbury advent calendar we have found the cheapest ones around this week and they cost just £1.35 each.GettyThe entrance to the Cadbury factory in Bournville, Birmingham[/caption]
