Ed Sheeran has opened up about what the worst part of fame is.

While braving an AMA (ask me anything) Reddit post, the singer and acoustic guitarist shared some pretty sombre revelations.

The 32-year-old rocketed to fame when his tear-jerking track The A Team came out in 2011.

Ever since, he’s topped the charts with catchy tunes like Shape Of You, Lego House, and Perfect.

He’s also hit the headlines, capturing the nation’s hearts as well as their musical ears.

But, as many celebrities say, fame comes at a cost. What Ed hates most about fame might just be the most wholesome thing ever.

‘What’s the worst part of being famous?’ asked one Reddit fan, to which Ed responded: ‘Not being able to take my kids to the zoo without people filming them.’

One fan commented on the poignant revelation with sympathy, as they wrote: ‘Wish people would let you live your life! Your fam deserves privacy. Thanks for your beautiful music and generosity this tour.’

Another suggested Ed should ‘rent out a zoo,’ to which someone else retorted: ‘He shouldn’t have to.’

Elsewhere in the chat, Ed also warned a Canadian tourist looking for some UK recommendations to only eat fish and chips if you can ‘see the sea.’ Very sound advice indeed.

The Reddit AMA comes as Ed promotes his new album Autumn Variations, which follows his mathematics inspired album, ‘-‘ (or subtract).

Ed always seems to speak directly to his fans, whether that be surprising school children with an impromptu performance or recording his new album in their living rooms.

The singer said his new album – out today – isn’t pandering to any industry pressures, and he ‘doesn’t care’ if it doesn’t make the numbers of its predecessors.

‘You just have to be like, “I don’t care what people think,”‘ he told CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King.

‘Cause people are gonna see it and they’re gonna see it being a lower figure than my other records and be like, “Oh, he’s on the way out.”

‘You just can’t go like this for your entire career. You have to have moments of, like, just doing things because you want to do them,’ he added.
