Noel Clarke has spoken out about his side of the story in his first interview since 20 women accused him of misconduct, including sexual harassment and bullying in 2021.
In March 2022, police confirmed that no criminal investigation will be launched into the allegations, which were brought to light by The Guardian.
Now, the Doctor Who actor, 47, has spoken out about how ‘a lot’ of the women who made accusations of misconduct against him were ‘lying’, as he added some allegations had been taken ‘out of context’.
‘I’ve never turned around and said 20 people were lying,’ began the producer and actor.
‘The reason I denied everything is because I think a lot of them are lying, or I know a lot of them are lying, and then there’s a lot of things that are out of context,’ he said in the sit down conversation on The Zeze Mills Show.
‘There’s a lot of things that were conversations that people were involved with and are now acting like they weren’t involved in those conversations.
The actor explained his version of events (Picture: The Zeze Mills Show/YouTube)The Kidulthood producer told Zizi it would be ‘easier’ for him to ‘sit here and cry’ and plead guilty to the allegations, saying, ‘I did all these things, I’m repenting, I’m sorry, I’ve worked on myself.’
‘And you know what? I have worked on myself,’ he continued.
Referring to being a Black man, the actor then said if he ‘didn’t look like [him]’ he could have ‘worked on [himself] for a month in The Priory’ and would be ‘back on television already’.

On this occasion, Clarke claimed he swiftly apologised after the woman expressed her discomfort at his comment.
On the subject of alleged nude photos, Clarke said he’s ‘never’ sent anything people ‘don’t want to see’.

In a statement at the time, Clarke said: ‘In a 20-year career, I have put inclusivity and diversity at the forefront of my work and never had a complaint made against me.
‘If anyone who has worked with me has ever felt uncomfortable or disrespected, I sincerely apologise.
‘I vehemently deny any sexual misconduct or wrongdoing and intend to defend myself against these false allegations.’

In this most recent interview, Clarke also admitted to being involved with conversations which ‘crossed the line of inappropriateness’, but he caveated that by saying he ‘thought [he] was just doing what everyone else was doing’ and that ‘adults have conversations that they sometimes shouldn’t have’.
Clarke concluded: ‘We need to differentiate between men that don’t care about the lines, and men that cross the lines unintentionally.’
