Alastair Stewart is bringing his broadcasting career to an end after almost half a century.
The journalist became the longest-serving male newsreader when he was still at ITV News, having worked for the broadcaster for over four decades.
In 2021, he moved over to GB News, joining the newly-launched company from its inception as a presenter.
In an announcement released by the channel, it was revealed that Alastair would be stepping back from regular programming as a newsreader.
He fronted the final episode of his programme, Alastair Stewart & Friends, last weekend.
However, he won’t be completely absent from the nation’s TV screens, as he will return to provide commentary for big news events such as the King’s coronation as an occasional contributor and commentator.
