The Goldbergs star Wendi McLendon-Covey has reacted to Jeff Garlin’s departure from the sitcom after claims of ‘inappropriate behaviour’.
The 60-year-old’s character, Murray Goldberg, was killed off in between the ninth and tenth series of the ABC show.
It came after allegations emerged from three people working on the comedy that Garlin had ‘engaged in a pattern of verbal and physical conduct on set that made people uncomfortable.’
Garlin later admitted he had been investigated by The Goldbergs HR team for three years for ‘for my behaviour on set’ but vehemently denied that he had ever ‘physically come at anyone’ and denied being fired.
Speaking on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show, Radio Andy, on Tuesday, McLendon-Covey, who plays Beverly Goldberg, spoke about the Toy Star 3 star’s exit.
Asked by the Real Housewives producer about how she felt about Murray being killed off, she replied: ‘That was a long time coming.’Jeff Garlin played Murray in The Goldbergs before the character was killed off (Picture: ABC via Getty Images)
‘That it finally happened it was like, “Ok, ok, finally someone is listening to us”
The 53-year-old continued: ‘It was hard as we’d lost Goerge Segal in real life and then to have to go through another loss on a sitcom. You know, you can’t keep asking your audience to mourn people.’

Pressed further about Garlin by Cohen, 54, she said: ‘If we cannot talk about that it would be great. I am exhausted by that topic and the PTSD from it all.’
Worrying she was being ‘obnoxious’ by making the subject off-limits, Cohen reassured her she was simply being ‘clear and direct.’
‘I feel like the less people know about it, the better. No one benefits from knowing anything,’ she added.McLendon-Covey said the exit was a ‘long time coming’ (Picture: Getty)
Garlin previously told Vanity Fair: ‘If I threatened people, that’s an unsafe work atmosphere. None of that goes on ever with me. That’s not who I am. I am sorry to tell you that there really is no big story. Unless you want to do a story about political correctness.’
Addressing allegations he made people uncomfortable by hugging them, he said: ‘I am a person who hugs for sure.McLendon-Covey said she didn’t want to go into too much detail (Picture: Getty Images)
‘And it’s quick hugs, but I didn’t realise that anyone was feeling – so if you want to write that story, that’s a true story.
‘It puts the onus on them to say something, and I would gladly respect anyone who said, “Please don’t hug me. I don’t feel comfortable.”’
