Most major UK supermarkets have their own app or loyalty scheme, either offering discounts or other ways to save cash on your shopping, or earn points and non-shopping rewards.
Among them are Tesco Clubcard, Sainsbury’s Nectar, the Asda Rewards app, and My Morrisons.
Budget supermarket Lidl, which originates from Germany, unveiled its Lidl Plus app back in 2020 – but if you’re not already a convert, what does it get you? Is it all about discounts, or can you earn points along the way?
Here, we’ll have a look at what Lidl Plus offers, plus how to get the app on your phone now.
How to get the Lidl Plus app
You can download Lidl Plus as an app for your iPhone or Android phone.
For Apple users, head to the App Store to download. If you use Android, get the app on Google Play here.

Lidl Plus works by offering customers weekly coupons for their grocery shop.
It also allows you to earn reward coupons with Coupon Plus when you hit a certain amount spent in store, too.
So, if you’re already spending a decent amount on your weekly and monthly food shopping at Lidl, then you may be able to get a discount or a free item or two when you hit specific thresholds.
You can access the deals, and count your spending towards Coupon Plus, by scanning the digital Lidl Plus card on the app at the till when you shop.
In addition, Lidl Plus offers a few discounts from partner retailers, a digital scratchcard to scratch off in hope of winning a prize, as well as access to a weekly leaflet.

Every Thursday, Lidl reveals a new set of coupons for the week ahead, available to Lidl Plus app users.

For the week of Mother’s Day 2023, we spotted some handy savings – including 20% off a range of flower bouquets, a deal on Favorina Easter sweets (buy two, get one free), and £1 off a specific bottle of Cava Brut.
The coupons for the week also included 15% off Chef Select stonebaked pizzas, 40p off Deluxe filled pasta, and 50% off canned salmon – with a handy 10% off Cien haircare products.

Take these as examples, as again, the offers change on a weekly basis.
But if you’re a savvy shopper, you might find some of these discounts useful as part of your budgeting.
There’s also Coupon Plus – essentially rewards you get based on how much you spend in store each calendar month.
In a promotion running in March 2023, once you’ve spent £50, you’ll be given a free bakery item coupon to use with your next shop, then a £2 off coupon when you hit £100 spent.
Once you’ve spent £250 in a month, you’ll be rewarded with 10% off a full shop.

The rewards are based on ‘qualifying’ spend, mind – which the T&Cs say counts as the ‘total till receipt excluding infant formula and gift cards’. There are T&Cs to consider for using the resulting reward, too.
What you can get from Coupon Plus changes every month – so do keep an eye on the app or Lidl website for the latest offers.
Do you collect points with the Lidl Plus app?
No. Unlike Tesco Clubcard or Nectar, you don’t collect points with Lidl Plus.
The loyalty rewards offered via Coupon Plus are based on what you spend each calendar month.
At the time of writing, you get a freebie or money-off voucher when you hit £50, £100, £150 and £250 spent.
