The moment when a newsreader collapsed during a live broadcast was terrifyingly caught on camera.

CBS LA weatherwoman Alissa Carlson Schwartz’s eyes rolled to the back of her head and she collapsed to the floor during a broadcast.

The clip shows Alissa, about to give a 7am report, when she fell onto the desk in front of her before landing on the floor.

While the moment was on air, news reporters Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim didn’t seem to notice as they introduced her.

‘Let’s start off with a check of your next weather with meteorologist Alissa Carlson, Nichelle began as Alissa was shown on screen.

Stood behind her desk, she slowly leant forward before her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she collapsed.

Not noticing, Nichelle continued: ‘Alissa this really is the calm before the storm,’ but as the sound of Alissa’s body hitting the floor was heard in the studio, Rachel cried out and got up from her seat.

Nichelle abruptly said: ‘We’re going to go ahead and go to break right now,’ as the programme continued to show the empty desk where Alissa had been standing seconds before.

Alissa reassured followers she would be okay (Picture: Instagram)

According to TMZ, the programme didn’t return to a live segment after the break, but a pre-recorded show aired.

CBS LA vice president and news director Mike Dello Stritto told the publication: ‘Our colleague Alissa Carlson became ill during our 7 AM newscast this morning. I want to thank her co-workers who took immediate action to comfort Alissa and call 911.
